CERT - Community Emergency Response Team

Did you know that some of your neighbors have volunteered to become members of a local Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)?

What we do

A CERT operates under the federal guidelines provided by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. As volunteer first responders, the South Lake County Regional CERT (SLCRCERT), works directly with the Fire and Police Departments of Deer Park, Hawthorn Woods, Kildeer, Lake Zurich and Long Grove, Illinois in support of emergency and planned events.

CERT Member Training

Our members are trained in first aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Automated External Defibrillator (AED), medical triage, traffic control, fire suppression, damage assessment, search and rescue, using the National Incident Management System (NIMS), and use of South Lake County Regional Community Emergency Response Team (SLCRCERT) equipment.

Since its inception in 2006, the team has been utilized by our local police and fire departments to assist with fatal traffic accidents and traffic control, train derailment responses, house explosion damage assessment, structure fires, lost persons and natural disasters, as well as staffing planned community events.
