The Lake County Sheriff’s office has brought to our attention that neighboring communities have experienced an increase in stolen vehicles. The offenders are targeting unlocked vehicles to steal valuables. If a vehicle has a key fob, the offenders are stealing the vehicles. Please always lock your vehicles and remove all valuables and always call 911 if you have an emergency.
If your vehicle is stolen the Sheriff recommends the following:
* re-code your garage door if the garage door transponder was in the vehicle
* If the vehicle is recovered, get the key fob reprogrammed so you are not victimized again
* If the vehicle is recovered and house keys were left in the vehicle, you should consider getting your door locks changed.
