Public Act 102-0015 signed by the Governor on June 17, 2021, allows voters to complete a one-time application to become enrolled in a Permanent Vote-by-Mail program and receive a ballot by mail for all subsequent elections.
Prior to this new law, voters requesting to vote by mail were required to complete an
application for ballot for each election.
Now, you may complete an Application for Permanent Vote by Mail Status and have a ballot automatically mailed to you for all future elections to any address specified.
A voter remains in a permanent status until the voter requests to be removed, provides
notice of a change of address outside of Lake County, or our office receives confirmation
that the voter has registered to vote in another county.
The new procedure for enrollment for Permanent Vote by Mail Status is mandated by Illinois State Legislation. Our role is to facilitate this directive. Please contact our Voting by Mail Department at 847 377 2406 if you have additional questions
Registered Lake County voters may apply for Permanent Vote-by-Mail Status here.
