Tree

Several pines around the Village are diseased and are dying.  The Village has checked with an Arborist to help identify trees which tolerate poor clay soil, wet soil, and shaded conditions.  Keep these native trees in mind if you are planting new trees on your property.  This may preserve and extend the life of trees you select.


Swamp white oak (wet soil tolerant)-mature dimensions, 50’h x 15’w.

Burr oak (very soil adaptable and urban tolerant)-mature dimensions, 75`h x 75’w.

Chinkapin oak (hardy, and relatively fast growing)-mature dimensions, 45’h x 46’w.

Crimson Sentry Norway maple-(narrow form of Crimson king maple ,Red leaves all year round)-mature dimensions, 25’h x 15’w.

Red Horsechestnut “Britoli” –(Large, Red flower)-Mature dimensions, 40’h x 35’w.

“ “ “Fort McNair” (Dark pink flower)-Mature dimensions, 45’h x 30’w.

BaumannComon Horsechestnut (White flower)-Mature dimensions, 70’H x 50’w.

Forest Pansy Redbud-(Red-Purple foliage, considered an ornamental tree)-mature dimensions, 20’h x 18’W.

Cornelian Cherry Dogwood (good under-story tree with yellow flowers during spring, hardy/shade tolerant)-mature dimensions, 20’h x 15’w.

Katsura Tree (Green-blue foliage, considered a high value landscape tree)-mature dimensions, 50’h x 30’w.

Turkish Filbert (Pyramid growth habit)-Mature dimensions, 45’h x 24’w.

Shawnee Brave Bald Cypress (wet soil tolerant, fast growing with striking fall colour)-Mature dimensions, 75’h x 20’w.

Sterling silver Linden (elegant, rounded form tree with flickering silver foliage when windy)-Mature dimensions, 45’h x 30’w.

Northern Catalpa (hardy, native tree with large, showy white flowers in early summer)-Mature dimensions, 55’h x 35’w.
