Update: Ela Road at Route 12 Intersection Improvement
The Lake County Division of Transportation (LCDOT) is working with the Village of Lake Zurich on an intersection improvement at Ela Road and Route 12 in Lake Zurich. You may remember that work began last year, but a utility conflict caused unforeseen plan revisions, and it was decided to suspend the work instead of leaving the road under construction through winter. Once spring arrives, the contractor will return to construct the retaining wall and will then add right turn lanes on US 12 for Ela Road. Taaffic signal and sidewalk work will also be part of this project. Expect daily lane closures of the outer westbound lane on US 12 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. during wall construction.
Ela Road Resurfacing Project Planned This Spring
There will also be a resurfacing project in the area that is planned to start later this spring. LCDOT will be resurfacing Ela Road from Cuba Road to IL 22 and installing bike friendly shoulders. LCDOT will also be constructing important sidewalk connections to fill in gaps between US 12 and IL 22. They will construct a sidewalk on the west side of Ela Road south of US 12 connecting to the existing sidewalk south of the McDonald's property, and on the east side of Ela Road north of US 12 to the existing sidewalk at IL 22.
